Certificate Programme in Management of the KDU will provide a rare opportunity for the participants to obtain a fair knowledge on Communication Skills, Introduction to Information Technology and Basic Management skills with related areas in the field of Management.
Moreover it is in accordance to the Sri Lanka Qualification Framework, equivalent to Sri Lanka Qualifying Level and designed to ensure a high academic standard by a panel of senior academics and professionals from reputed Universities/ Institutions in Sri Lanka to facilitate participants to complete the certificate programme in six months while in service.
Lectures will be held in weekends, at the KDU and the rest of the learning is through assignments/ practical work/ independent learning carried out at the participants' own convenience. The medium of instructions will be English.
Objectives
The main objective of this programme is to enhance and develop the knowledge of Officers, Warrant Officers, Senior Non Commissioned Officers and Non Commissioned Officers in the three armed services on Basic Management subjects including Communication Skills and Information Technology and to be productive in military and other employments. In addition this programme will;
a. Provide an exposure and experience to Offrs, WOs, SNCOs and NCOs to enhance and develop personal skills.
b. Facilitate career progression.
Programme Structure
Candidates are required to earn 15 credits within six months for the qualification to obtain Certificate in management. Certificate in Management programme will consist of Six (06) subject modules whose credit weight will vary from 2 to 3. A Credit is defined as having fifteen hours of interactive class room sessions or 30 - 45 hours of practical's and other time work including assignments.
Duration of the programme and Time available:
The duration of the Certificate Programme in Management will be six months and classes will be conducted on every weekend other than public holidays. Total number of 24 weeks would be utilized to complete all modules within 6 months including examinations.
Requirements for the qualification:
Candidates of Certificate programme in Management will have to complete 15 credits, follow 60 (sixty) percent of the lectures within six months and required to be without any violation of rules and regulations stipulated by the KDU on conduct and discipline.

Officers and Warrant Officers, Senior Non Commissioned Officers and Non Commissioned Officers of the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Air Force with G C E Ordinary Level Examination qualification.

Offrs, WOs, SNCOs and NCOs with required qualifications should apply to the respective service Commanders who will nominate candidates. All applicants are expected to pass an aptitude test consist of English, Mathematics and Intelligence Quotient conducted by KDU.
